Root Canal in Pasadena

A root canal is a procedure done to save you from losing a tooth that is infected. Our teeth are composed of different parts, one of them being the pulp, where the nerve and blood vessels are housed. When this area becomes inflamed or infected, then a root canal procedure is done to avoid extracting the tooth. During a root canal, the living tissue inside the tooth is removed and the area is filled with a material called gutta percha.

How Do I Know If I Might Need a Root Canal?

When your pulp becomes inflamed or infected, you may begin to feel symptoms that prompt you to take action.

    Toothache

Certain toothaches point to the possibility of an inflamed/infected pulp. It is best to have the area checked for proper diagnosis.

    Abscess

If you see a bump near the top part of a tooth and/or pus present in the mouth, then there is a possibility a root canal will be required.

    Sensitivity

Extreme pain to hot and cold foods is a sign of an inflamed nerve.

    Discoloration
Dark discoloration on the tooth could indicate a dead nerve.
